How low can a punk get?

A very informal Painting Tutorial
Well more of a step by step of how I paint.
Materials - Arches watercolour paper block. Cold pressed.
Dr. Ph. Martin’s Radiant watercolours in;
Saddle Brown, Scarlet, Tiger Yellow, Coffee Brown (not used)
Olive Green, Slate Blue.
Winsor & Newton Black Indian ink.
Speedball B6 cartooning tip & a battered and taped up holder.
Cotman(maybe) Sable Brush (weasel hair sorry vegans)
Two seperate cups of HOT water one to wash the brush one to wet
Took me a good 6 - 7 attempts to get to this drawing and I’m not even sure its the final one I used on the lightbox but once I’ve got the drawing down I blutac it to the back of a watercolour sheets and stick it on the lightbox. I line using my speedball dip pen and Winsor & Newton black. Used a few different blacks but this one seems to hold the best and look the darkest. I always clean the speedball tip thoroughly before each use as the ink flow gets blocked pretty easily if its left to dry.
Lined it all using my speedball and left out the hair dots as the actual tip of the pen isn’t round so any dots with it just look like a line.
I usually do the fleshtone first as I do it pretty messy and paint out the lines as you’ll notice.
I wet the area first before I paint as with Radiant inks its more of a dye so any paint left for too long will stain the paper where it is making fades difficult.
For fleshtone I use Saddle Brown straight out the bottle just slap that shit on wherever I think. 
Then I QUICKLY wash my brush and dip it in clean water. Put the brush on my tongue to take some of the excess water off ( usually burn myself depending on how hot the water is ) then from the edge I want to fade from move the brush back and forth away from where I want the darkest tone to be. I keep touching the brush to my tongue to get excess ink and water off which tastes like shit but gets good fades.
Smooth as a baby behind.
Once you’ve got the basics of fades down the rest is real simple. I added the black next making sure that no black touched either side of a line as the separating line would disappear and we don’t want that. Hair is ok though aslong as areas of paper still show to see the hair lines.
Once most of the black was down I realised I’d forgotten the ear like an idiot.
Painted the ear and put some black fades around the eyes which I don’t usually do but thought it would look ok.
Next is the red. Didn’t fade this atall apart from on the cheeks just slapped it down thick. 
Next if you’re anything like me you’ll have forgotten to take any more pictures and finished the whole thing in a flourish. 
Was going to leave the hair but I added some green in an all or nothing madness and I ended up happy with it. I had planned to do the eyes green but having the two greens so close would have looked shit so the closest reasonable eye colour was the Slate Blue on the bandanna so the eyes became blue. This also helped spread the blue out around the picture a bit as just having one blue part look odd.
Tiger Yellow in the banners a bit overboard in hindsight but fuck it.
Getting the original drawing took me a few hours but lining and painting took me less then two with a bunch of breaks to drink coffee.

Starting a punk/hardcore flash sheet set today. Mostly 80’s stuff or anything that wishes it was.
(Which means I’ll do half of one then give up)
